Papileon (pah-PILL-ee-on) is a Bug-type Pokémon introduced in v1.0 of Horizon 'Mons, and Wave 5 of New Dawn

Papileon was first conceptualized on November 25, 2025. It was publicly released on the New Dawn Minecraft Server on April 18, 2026.

Pokédex Entry

Papileon are beautiful Pokémon; it is said that seeing one can fuel a creative mind to hone its skills for years to come. Their wing-like ears sometimes fall off naturally, which causes Papileon to enter a cocoon of its own creation to regenerate. These wings can be used in fashion, but they are a very expensive material.

Evolution

Papileon evolves from Eevee after leveling up with a Butterfree in the party.

Appearance

Papileon resembles a combination of a cat and a dog, with some faint deer resemblance, as well. It is mainly olive green, darker green, white, and orange in color. It has large butterfly wing ears, antenna, and orange eyes. It has white, poofy coverings on its neck and legs. Its lower legs are slender, and its tail is bulbous.

Locations

Papileon can spawn in Jungle, Skyroot Forest, and Skyroot Wonderland Biomes. It cannot spawn in a Spooky or Freezing biome. It can also spawn in urban areas, like Villages and Mansions. It is an Uncommon to Ultra-Rare spawn, and can spawn at level 28-53.

Trivia

* Papileon and Aveeon are a duo, much like Umbreon and Espeon, or Leafeon and Glaceon.

* Unlike Aveeon, Papileon does not have any relationship with Butterfree.

* Papileon was originally a lavender color, which was changed to its shiny color later on.

Origin

Papileon is based on many different kinds of insects. Most notably, Papileon draws inspiration from butterflies with its winged ears and general beauty motif. It is also based on many different types of insects that can produce silk. Papileon's regeneration is based on the metamorphosis that many insects, especially butterflies, go through.

Etymology

Papileon is a combination of the words Papilio and eon.
